The Essentials for the Perfect Matric Dance Evening

Each year, every girl in their Matric Year looks forward to one particular evening of the year, that one night you have been dreaming about since the beginning of your High school career.
Every girl fantasizes about their Matric Dance and just how spectacular the evening is set to be.

But it’s not only the actual dance that we dream of, it’s the glitz and glamour of the entire event, and most importantly, just how beautiful we both look and feel.

Months of preparation are spent ensuring that the PERFECT dress is chosen, along with all the right accessories and such that go with this.

So, to help all you lovely ladies out, we have put together the perfect guide to all the essentials that are needed for your special night, a virtual checklist if you like.

Firstly, you need to find THE dress, the one you cannot take your eye off and just want to live in.
Whether it’s getting one tailor made, or hiring a beautiful gown, comfort and beauty need to go hand in hand.

Secondly, Make Up, Nails and Hair.

Ensuring that the perfect make up is chosen is a huge part of your look.

Try go for a look that suits not only your choice of colours for the evening (such as your dress), but something that works with your skin tone too.

We recommend a ‘fresh face’ look to show off your natural beauty, there’s nothing worse then too much make up.

However, if you want to add a bit of “pow” to your look, focus on either your eyes (a dark smokey eye for example) or your lips (Cara Delevingne does the neon pop of colour so well, bottom left)

The traditional way is to opt for a stunning Manicure, however why not try something different and add a bit of colour to your look?

Gel nails are a great way of ensuring your nails look elegant for such an occasion and just as lovely as your traditional French Manicure.

Whether you have short hair, long hair, dark or light hair, the perfect style to suit your overall look is essential.

Above we have chosen a few on trend styles that make for a lovely style. Braids are really in and they are a great way to make sure your hair is kept in place all evening  and can be used for both an upstyle or a simple fall, however if you want something more free flowing, look to our two bottom images for some ideas.

We love the idea of a flower crown as seen bottom left, or a simple tiara would look beautiful too.

Next the perfect accessories always add an extra touch to your look.

If its something simple and classic that you’re looking for try pieces similar to that seen at the bottom half, or something a bit more out there as seen in the top, selecting the perfect pieces of jewellery is always a tough choice.

Such a small item has the ability to add the perfect touch to your look.

Always look at your dress and it’s colours, and then co-ordinate your jewels.

One of our favourite parts of accessorising has got to be choosing our bangles and necklaces.

If your dress has a lot of detail, try a more simple choice in the above jewellery. However, if you’ve gone with a more simple style, a bold statement neckpiece  is always a winner.

Never forget the finishing touches.

The perfect shoe to match your dress can surprisingly be one of the hardest items of your look to find, so make sure you don’t leave this till the last minute.

Don’t forget your lipstick behind, so you can always touch up when it’s photo time.

And lastly, a spray of your favourite fragrance is just the thing to make you feel extraordinary on this spectacular evening.
